The split cylinder insulation displacement contact (IDC) provides a highly reliable connection designed to meet stringent PTT and military electrical and mechanical requirements in a broad range of environmental conditions. It is ideally suited to analogue, digital and data applications.
Quick and easy terminations. Eliminates the need for wire stripping and wrapping or soldering. Simply place the wire over the contact and punch down using a simple impact installation tool.
Reliable results. The system is rated for a minimum of 200 wire insertion/withdrawal cycles and eliminates annoying intermittents sometimes found with other connection methods.
Convenient and efficient. The wire is cut off by the contact, so tool-blunting is never an issue. During wire removal, each wire pulls out cleanly, leaving no wire residue in the contact.
