The XAGA PreTerm and TPT splice closure systems are used to encapsulate buried splices in a pretermination shop. The XAGA PreTerm closure is oven-installed and the XAGA TPT closure is torch-installed. Incorporating Raychem's urethane delivery system, they both drive encapsulant into the core of a cable, providing protection that is superior to traditional, poured urethane systems. Only one size closure is required to fit 25 to 400 pair cable that has up to eight two-pair or four five-pair service wires. A variable liner fits all pretermination splice-bundle sizes and provides a laminated aluminum barrier against a moisture vapor transmission, as well as mechanical protection for the splice. After shop installation, XAGA PreTerm closures can be reeled for transport to the field.
